Dates: Thursday October 3, 2013-Friday October 4, 2013

Location: Boise, ID

Lead Trainer: Steve Archibald

Target Audience: Upper elementary and middle school teachers.

Cost: Pricing is determined by partners. Email the registration contact provided below about both registration and pricing.

Description: During this 2-day workshop, participants will be introduced to wilderness topics; experience key components of Wilderness Investigations—a new set of information, learning activities, and resources for teachers who want to expose their students to wilderness topics; be exposed ways to expand classroom boundaries to include local places with wild elements, and experience an integrated approach to place-based teaching using wilderness as the organizing concept. Ten OPI credits are available for each workshop (graduate/undergraduate credits available in summer sessions). Wilderness Investigations is correlated with National and State Standards (for 5th – 8th grades) and Indian Education for All Essential Understandings, but is easily adaptable for most grades.

Enrollment: Sponsors include Idaho Fish & Game and the City of Boise. To register contact Vicky Runroe, 208-287-2874.
