Description: The broad, flat expanse of the desert floor sometimes holds water over a large area after a heavy rain. in some places, like here, you can see where it gradually dried up over time, leaving cracked mud behind. in fact, in some areas of the desert, there is significant "sheet flow" - a large area of shallow water moving slowly downgrade. similar to what you find in the everglades, except that area is always wet.
