J.N. "Ding" Darling Wilderness
Recreational Opportunities
To, Access the J.N. Ding Darling Wilderness, you may launch a canoe/kayak (non-motorized boat) from Wildlife Drive or by motor boat coming from Pine Island Sound. Most of the Wilderness is open to motor boats at slow speed, but a portion of the Wilderness around Wildlife Drive is closed to all motors. Once in this part of the Wilderness, motors must be turned off and tilted out of the water. The waters are shallow and offer wonderful opportunities to fish or observe wildlife.
