Archery hunting for deer and waterfowl hunting. Freshwater fishing year-round.

The climate is humid, hot in the summer, and sometimers very cold in the winter.

Access to the area is by boat and access within the wilderness is by walking, paddling a boat, or push poling a boat.

The area is freshwater marsh with difficult access, tall grass, and a soft substrate. Mosquitoes, snakes, and alligators frequent the area.

Portions of the area are currently being taken over by Chinese tallow.
