Illinois Wilderness Act of 1990 - Public law 101-633 (11/28/1990) To designate certain lands in the State of Illinois as wilderness, and for other purposes
NOTE: This public law also designated the East Fork Special Management Area (2,042 acres), which was absorbed into the Lusk Creek Wilderness in November 1998. The eight year delay between passage of this public law and addition of this area to the National Wilderness Preservation System was to allow for the possibility of prospecting for and mining for fluorspar and associated minerals.
This public law also includes the following wilderness area(s): Bald Knob Wilderness, Bay Creek Wilderness, Burden Falls Wilderness, Clear Springs Wilderness, Garden of the Gods Wilderness, Panther Den Wilderness.
