(No official title, designates National Park Service wildernesses) - Public Law 94-567 (10/20/1976) To designate certain lands within units of the National Park System as wilderness; to revise the boundaries of certain of these units; and for other purposes.
NOTE: Officially named the area as the Point Reyes Wilderness an dictated that approximately 8,003 of potential wilderness lands would be converted to wilderness with the cessation of non-conforming uses. On November 18, 1999, 1,752 acres of potential wilderness became wilderness; On November 30, 2012, 1,363 acres of potential wilderness within the Drakes Estero became wilderness after the closing of a commerical shellfish operation.
