40th Anniversary Event Details
2004 Desert ConferenceWhat: Coinciding with the 40th anniversary year of the Wilderness Act, this conference will bring together, inspire, and educate those who care about the high desert sagebrush lands of the Great Basin and beyond. We will recognize our achievements and what we must do to further protect this extraordinary desert landscape. The conference will include a full day of field trips, former Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt and award-winning western author Bill Kittredge as our keynote speakers, and a range of discussions and presentations on high desert conservation issues. Planning Committee: American Lands Alliance, Audubon Society of Portland, Oregon Chapter Sierra Club, Oregon Natural Desert Association, Oregon Trout, Trout Unlimited, and The Wilderness Society (fiscal sponsor).
